Oracle Database Server 9.2.0.7 sql injection

CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

A vulnerability was found in Oracle Database Server 9.2.0.7 (Database Software). It has been classified as critical. Affected is some unknown processing. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a sql injection vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-89. The product constructs all or part of an SQL command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended SQL command when it is sent to a downstream component. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:

Unspecified vulnerability in Oracle Database Server 9.2.0.7 and 10.1.0.4 has unknown impact and attack vectors in the Oracle Spatial component, aka Vuln# DB12. NOTE: details are unavailable from Oracle, but as of 20060421, they have not publicly disputed a claim by a reliable independent researcher that states that the problem is SQL injection in the (1) GEN_RID_RANGE_BY_AREA and (2) GEN_RID_RANGE functions in the MDSYS.SDO_PRIDX package.

The weakness was disclosed 04/20/2006 by Alexander Kornbrust with Generation Security Software Ltd. as confirmed advisory (CERT.org). The advisory is available at kb.cert.org. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2006-1876 since 04/20/2006. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. Required for exploitation is a authentication. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available. This vulnerability is assigned to T1505 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.

It is declared as proof-of-concept. As 0-day the estimated underground price was around $5k-$25k. The real existence of this vulnerability is still doubted at the moment. The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 56052 (Oracle Database Multiple Vulnerabilities (April 2006 CPU)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family Databases.

Applying a patch is able to eliminate this problem.

The vulnerability is also documented in the databases at X-Force (26051) and Tenable (56052). The entries 2015, 29753, 29752 and 29751 are pretty similar.
