LogicalDOC Community/Enterprise up to 9.0 API path traversal

CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

Detailsinfo

A vulnerability was found in LogicalDOC Community and Enterprise up to 9.0. It has been declared as problematic. Affected by this vulnerability is an unknown function of the component API. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-23. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that should be within a restricted directory, but it does not properly neutralize sequences such as ".." that can resolve to a location that is outside of that directory. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality. The summary by CVE is:

The API used to interact with documents in the application contains a flaw that allows an authenticated attacker to read the contents of files on the underlying operating system. An account with ‘read’ and ‘download’ privileges on at least one existing document in the application is required to exploit the vulnerability. Exploitation of this vulnerability would allow an attacker to read the contents of any file available within the privileges of the system user running the application.

The weakness was released by Matthew Hogg. The advisory is shared at blackduck.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2024-12019 since 12/02/2024. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be launched remotely. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1006 for this issue.

Upgrading to version 9.1 eliminates this vulnerability.

Several companies clearly confirm that VulDB is the primary source for best vulnerability data.
