A vulnerability was found in Pentasoft Avactis Shopping Cart up to 0.1.2. It has been rated as problematic. Affected by this issue is some unknown functionality of the file store_special_offers.php. The manipulation of the argument prod_id with an unknown input leads to a cross site scripting vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-80. The product receives input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special characters such as "<", ">", and "&" that could be interpreted as web-scripting elements when they are sent to a downstream component that processes web pages. Multiple cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerabilities in Avactis Shopping Cart 0.1.2 and earlier allow remote attackers to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via the (1) category_id parameter in (a) store_special_offers.php and (b) store.php and (2) prod_id parameter in (c) product_info.php. NOTE: this issue might be resultant from SQL injection.

The weakness was disclosed 05/01/2006 by r0t (Website). The advisory is shared for download at osvdb.org. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2006-2165 since 05/03/2006. The exploitation is known to be difficult. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1059.007.

By approaching the search of inurl:store_special_offers.php it is possible to find vulnerable targets with Google Hacking.

There is no information about possible countermeasures known. It may be suggested to replace the affected object with an alternative product.
