A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, has been found in ISPConfig 2.2.2. This issue affects an unknown code block of the file session.inc.php. The manipulation of the argument go_info[server][classes_root]
with an unknown input leads to a code injection vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-94. ** DISPUTED ** PHP remote file inclusion vulnerability in session.inc.php in ISPConfig 2.2.2 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary PHP code via a URL in the go_info[server][classes_root] parameter. NOTE: the vendor has disputed this vulnerability, saying that session.inc.php is not under the web root in version 2.2, and register_globals is not enabled.
The weakness was released 05/06/2006 by ReZEN (Website). The advisory is shared at lists.grok.org.uk. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2006-2315 since 05/11/2006. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Technical details as well as a public exploit are known. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1059 for this issue.
After before and not just, there has been an exploit disclosed. The exploit is available at securityfocus.com. It is declared as proof-of-concept. The real existence of this vulnerability is still doubted at the moment. By approaching the search of inurl:session.inc.php it is possible to find vulnerable targets with Google Hacking.
There is no information about possible countermeasures known. It may be suggested to replace the affected object with an alternative product.
