Details
A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, has been found in Linux Kernel up to 6.1.8. This issue affects the function sp_usb_phy_probe. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a null pointer dereference vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-476. A NULL pointer dereference occurs when the application dereferences a pointer that it expects to be valid, but is NULL, typically causing a crash or exit. Impacted is availability. The summary by CVE is:
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: phy: usb: sunplus: Fix potential null-ptr-deref in sp_usb_phy_probe() sp_usb_phy_probe() will call platform_get_resource_byname() that may fail and return NULL. devm_ioremap() will use usbphy->moon4_res_mem->start as input, which may causes null-ptr-deref. Check the ret value of platform_get_resource_byname() to avoid the null-ptr-deref.
