A vulnerability was found in FCKeditor 2.2. It has been rated as problematic. This issue affects some unknown processing of the file upload.php of the component eManager. The manipulation of the argument Type with an unknown input leads to a unknown weakness. Impacted is integrity. The summary by CVE is:

editor/filemanager/upload/php/upload.php in FCKeditor before 2.3 Beta, when the upload feature is enabled, does not verify the Type parameter, which allows remote attackers to upload arbitrary file types. NOTE: It is not clear whether this is related to CVE-2006-0658.

The weakness was published 05/18/2006 (Website). The advisory is shared at fckeditor.net. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2006-2529 since 05/22/2006. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available.

It is declared as proof-of-concept. By approaching the search of inurl:upload.php it is possible to find vulnerable targets with Google Hacking. The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 21573 (FCKeditor upload.php Type Parameter Arbitrary File Upload), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family CGI abuses.

Upgrading to version 2.3 eliminates this vulnerability.
