with an unknown input leads to a cross site scripting vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-80. The product receives input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special characters such as "<", ">", and "&" that could be interpreted as web-scripting elements when they are sent to a downstream component that processes web pages. Cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in Jemscripts DownloadControl 1.0 allows remote attackers to inject arbitrary HTML or web script via the dcid parameter to dc.php. NOTE: the provenance of this information is unknown; the details are obtained solely from third party information. This issue appears to be independent from a different issue that involves the same vector.
The weakness was shared 05/23/2006 by luny (Website). The advisory is shared at vupen.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2006-2553 since 05/23/2006. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Technical details as well as a exploit are known. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1059.007 for this issue.
