with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. Absolute path traversal vulnerability in the copy action in index.php in Andrew Godwin ByteHoard 2.1 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to create or overwrite files in other users directories by specifying the absolute path of the directory in the infolder parameter and simultaneously specifying the filename in the filepath parameter.
The weakness was presented 05/30/2006 by Nomenumbra (Website). The advisory is available at securityfocus.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2006-2633 since 05/30/2006. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be launched remotely. The successful exploitation needs a simple authentication. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit. This vulnerability is assigned to T1006 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.
It is declared as proof-of-concept. By approaching the search of inurl:index.php it is possible to find vulnerable targets with Google Hacking.
