A vulnerability was found in Andreas Gohr DokuWiki Release 2006-03-09/Release 2006-03-09e (Content Management System). It has been declared as problematic. This vulnerability affects some unknown functionality in the library lib/exe/fetch.php. The manipulation of the argument media with an unknown input leads to a cross site scripting vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-80. The product receives input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special characters such as "<", ">", and "&" that could be interpreted as web-scripting elements when they are sent to a downstream component that processes web pages. As an impact it is known to affect integrity. CVE summarizes:

CRLF injection vulnerability in lib/exe/fetch.php in DokuWiki 2006-03-09e, and possibly earlier, allows remote attackers to inject arbitrary HTTP headers and conduct HTTP response splitting attacks via CRLF sequences in the media parameter. NOTE: this issue can be leveraged for XSS attacks.

The weakness was released 01/25/2007 (Website). The advisory is available at gentoo.org. This vulnerability was named CVE-2006-6965 since 01/29/2007. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit. This vulnerability is assigned to T1059.007 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.

It is declared as proof-of-concept. By approaching the search of inurl:lib/exe/fetch.php it is possible to find vulnerable targets with Google Hacking. The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 25053 (GLSA-200704-08 : DokuWiki: XSS vulnerability), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family Gentoo Local Security Checks.

There is no information about possible countermeasures known. It may be suggested to replace the affected object with an alternative product.
