A vulnerability classified as critical was found in webSPELL 4.0/4.01.00/4.01.01/4.01.02 (Content Management System). Affected by this vulnerability is some unknown functionality of the file printview.php. The manipulation of the argument topic
with an unknown input leads to a sql injection vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-89. SQL injection vulnerability in printview.php in webSPELL 4.01.02 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary SQL commands via the topic parameter, a different vector than CVE-2007-1019, CVE-2006-5388, and CVE-2006-4783.
The weakness was disclosed 02/21/2007 (Website). The advisory is shared at vupen.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2007-1163 since 02/28/2007. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. Technical details and also a public exploit are known. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1505 for this issue.
A public exploit has been developed by DNX in Perl and been published even before and not after the advisory. It is possible to download the exploit at securityfocus.com. It is declared as proof-of-concept. By approaching the search of inurl:printview.php it is possible to find vulnerable targets with Google Hacking.
There is no information about possible countermeasures known. It may be suggested to replace the affected object with an alternative product.
