A vulnerability was found in Coppermine Photo Gallery 1.x (Photo Gallery Software). It has been declared as critical. Affected by this vulnerability is an unknown functionality of the file imageObjectIM.class.php. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a sql injection vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-89. The software constructs all or part of an SQL command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended SQL command when it is sent to a downstream component. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
The weakness was released 01/30/2008 by Janek Vind (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at coppermine-gallery.net. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2008-0504 since 01/31/2008. The attack can be launched remotely. The successful exploitation needs a single authentication. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Technical details of the vulnerability are known, but there is no available exploit. The attack technique deployed by this issue is T1505 according to MITRE ATT&CK.

Upgrading eliminates this vulnerability. Applying a patch is able to eliminate this problem. The bugfix is ready for download at coppermine-gallery.net. The best possible mitigation is suggested to be upgrading to the latest version. A possible mitigation has been published 4 weeks after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
