A vulnerability was found in XT-Conteudo module on XOOPS (version now known). It has been rated as critical. This issue affects some unknown processing of the file admin/spaw/spaw_control.class.php. The manipulation of the argument spaw_root
with an unknown input leads to a file inclusion vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-73. PHP remote file inclusion vulnerability in admin/spaw/spaw_control.class.php in the XT-Conteudo module for XOOPS allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary PHP code via a URL in the spaw_root parameter. NOTE: this issue is probably a duplicate of CVE-2006-4656.
The weakness was published 06/13/2007 by FiSh (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at vupen.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2007-3221 since 06/14/2007. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Technical details as well as a public exploit are known.
A public exploit has been developed by g00ns and been published immediately after the advisory. The exploit is available at immunitysec.com. It is declared as proof-of-concept. By approaching the search of inurl:admin/spaw/spaw_control.class.php it is possible to find vulnerable targets with Google Hacking. The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 25372 (XOOPS Multiple Modules spaw_control.class.php spaw_root Parameter Remote File Inclusion), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family CGI abuses.
