with an unknown input leads to a memory allocation vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-789. The product allocates memory based on an untrusted, large size value, but it does not ensure that the size is within expected limits, allowing arbitrary amounts of memory to be allocated. As an impact it is known to affect availability. CVE summarizes:
TeamSpeak WebServer 2.0 for Windows does not validate parameter value lengths and does not expire TCP sessions, which allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (CPU and memory consumption) via long username and password parameters in a request to login.tscmd on TCP port 14534.
The weakness was published 07/20/2007 by Yag Kohha (Website). The advisory is shared for download at milw0rm.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2007-3956 since 07/24/2007. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Technical details and also a public exploit are known.
A public exploit has been developed by YAG KOHHA in Perl and been published even before and not after the advisory. It is possible to download the exploit at securityfocus.com. It is declared as proof-of-concept. The vulnerability was handled as a non-public zero-day exploit for at least 1 days. During that time the estimated underground price was around $0-$5k.
There is no information about possible countermeasures known. It may be suggested to replace the affected object with an alternative product.
The vulnerability is also documented in the databases at X-Force (35518) and Exploit-DB (4205).
