Multiple argument injection vulnerabilities in Mozilla Firefox 2.0.0.5 and 3.0alpha allow remote attackers to execute arbitrary commands via a NULL byte (%00) and shell metacharacters in a (1) mailto, (2) nntp, (3) news, (4) snews, or (5) telnet URI, a similar issue to CVE-2007-3670.
The issue has been introduced in 07/27/2005. The weakness was shared 07/27/2007 by Billy Rios as confirmed advisory (CERT.org). The advisory is shared at kb.cert.org. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2007-4041 since 07/27/2007. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1202 for this issue.
