Heap-based buffer overflow in mplayerc.exe in Media Player Classic (MPC) 6.4.9.0 and earlier, as used standalone and in mympc (aka CD-Storm) 1.0.0.1, StormPlayer 1.0.4, and possibly other products, allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (application crash) or possibly execute arbitrary code via a .avi file with an "indx truck size" of 0xffffffff, and certain wLongsPerEntry and nEntriesInuse values.
The bug was discovered 09/12/2007. The weakness was disclosed 09/18/2007 with Code Audit Labs (Website). The advisory is shared for download at securityfocus.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2007-4939 since 09/18/2007. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available. The current price for an exploit might be approx. USD $0-$5k (estimation calculated on 07/29/2019).
