A vulnerability was found in CA Protection Suites (version now known) and classified as critical. Affected by this issue is some unknown processing in the library rxrpc.dll. The manipulation of the argument filename
with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
Directory traversal vulnerability in rxRPC.dll in CA (Computer Associates) BrightStor ARCserve Backup for Laptops and Desktops r11.0 through r11.5 allows remote attackers to upload and overwrite arbitrary files via a ..\ (dot dot backslash) sequence in the destination filename argument to sub-function 8 in the rxrReceiveFileFromServer command.
