A vulnerability classified as problematic has been found in Pegasus Imaging ImagXpress 8.0. This affects the function compactfile
in the library pegasusimaging.activex.thumnailxpress1.dll of the component ActiveX Control. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. This is going to have an impact on integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
Multiple absolute path traversal vulnerabilities in Pegasus Imaging ImagXpress 8.0 allow remote attackers to (1) delete arbitrary files via the CacheFile attribute in the ThumbnailXpres.1 ActiveX control (PegasusImaging.ActiveX.ThumnailXpress1.dll) or (2) overwrite arbitrary files via the CompactFile function in the ImagXpress.8 ActiveX control (PegasusImaging.ActiveX.ImagXpress8.dll).
