Multiple unspecified vulnerabilities in the PeopleTools component in Oracle PeopleSoft Enterprise and JD Edwards EnterpriseOne 8.22.18, 8.48.15, and 8.49.07 have unknown impact and remote attack vectors, aka (1) PSE01, (2) PSE03, and (3) PSE04.

The weakness was shared 01/17/2008 by Esteban Martinez Fayo (Alex) with Application Security, Inc. (Website). The advisory is available at us-cert.gov. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2008-0348 since 01/17/2008. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available. The structure of the vulnerability defines a possible price range of USD $0-$5k at the moment (estimation calculated on 08/03/2019).

A public exploit has been developed in SQL. The exploit is shared for download at securityfocus.com. It is declared as proof-of-concept. As 0-day the estimated underground price was around $25k-$100k. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 19227 (Oracle January 2008 Security Update Multiple Vulnerabilities).

There is no information about possible countermeasures known. It may be suggested to replace the affected object with an alternative product. Furthermore it is possible to detect and prevent this kind of attack with TippingPoint and the filter 8834.
