The weakness was shared 01/18/2008 by Alexandr Polyakov (stas) with Digital Security Research Group (Website). The advisory is shared for download at marc.info. This vulnerability was named CVE-2008-0359 since 01/18/2008. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. Technical details and also a public exploit are known. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1059.007.
A public exploit has been developed by DSecRG and been published even before and not after the advisory. It is possible to download the exploit at securityfocus.com. It is declared as highly functional. The vulnerability was handled as a non-public zero-day exploit for at least 2 days. During that time the estimated underground price was around $0-$5k. By approaching the search of inurl:admin.php it is possible to find vulnerable targets with Google Hacking.
