A vulnerability, which was classified as very critical, has been found in IrfanView 4.10 (Image Processing Software). Affected by this issue is an unknown function in the library fpx.dll. fpx.dll 3.9.8.0 in the FlashPix plugin for IrfanView 4.10 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via a crafted FlashPix (.FPX) file, which triggers heap corruption. NOTE: some of these details are obtained from third party information.

The bug was discovered 01/28/2008. The weakness was shared 01/30/2008 with Marsu (Website). The advisory is available at vupen.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2008-0493 since 01/30/2008.
