Cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in Serendipity (S9Y) before 1.3-beta1 allows remote authenticated users to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via (1) the "Real name" field in Personal Settings, which is presented to readers of articles; or (2) a file upload, as demonstrated by a .htm, .html, or .js file.

The weakness was presented 02/28/2008 by Hanno Boeck (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at blog.s9y.org. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2008-0124 since 01/07/2008. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Technical details of the vulnerability are known, but there is no available exploit. The attack technique deployed by this issue is T1059.007 according to MITRE ATT&CK.
