A vulnerability was found in Microsoft Outlook 2002/2003/2007 (Groupware Software). It has been classified as very critical. Affected is the function PR_ATTACH_METHOD
of the component SMB Attachment Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a code injection vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-94. The product constructs all or part of a code segment using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the syntax or behavior of the intended code segment. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
Microsoft Office Outlook 2002 SP3, 2003 SP3, and 2007 SP1 and SP2 does not properly verify e-mail attachments with a PR_ATTACH_METHOD property value of ATTACH_BY_REFERENCE, which allows user-assisted remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via a crafted message, aka "Microsoft Outlook SMB Attachment Vulnerability."
