The Tracing Feature for Services in Microsoft Windows Vista SP1 and SP2, Windows Server 2008 Gold, SP2, and R2, and Windows 7 has incorrect ACLs on its registry keys, which allows local users to gain privileges via vectors involving a named pipe and impersonation, aka "Tracing Registry Key ACL Vulnerability."
The weakness was presented 08/10/2010 by Cesar Cerrudo with Argeniss as MS10-059 as confirmed bulletin (Technet). The advisory is shared for download at microsoft.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2010-2554 since 06/30/2010. The attack needs to be approached locally. A single authentication is necessary for exploitation. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1068.
