PXE Encryption in Cisco IronPort Encryption Appliance 6.2.4 before 6.2.4.1.1, 6.2.5, 6.2.6, 6.2.7 before 6.2.7.7, 6.3 before 6.3.0.4, and 6.5 before 6.5.0.2; and Cisco IronPort PostX 6.2.1 before 6.2.1.1 and 6.2.2 before 6.2.2.3; allows remote attackers to capture credentials by tricking a user into reading a modified or crafted e-mail message.

The bug was discovered 01/14/2009. The weakness was published 01/14/2009 (Website). The advisory is shared for download at vupen.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2009-0054 since 01/07/2009. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1552.

It is declared as proof-of-concept. The vulnerability was handled as a non-public zero-day exploit for at least 1 days. During that time the estimated underground price was around $5k-$25k.

Upgrading to version 6.5.0.1 eliminates this vulnerability.
