Cross-site request forgery (CSRF) vulnerability in index.php in Simple Machines Forum (SMF) 1.0 before 1.0.15 and 1.1 before 1.1.7 allows remote attackers to hijack the authentication of admins for requests that install packages via the package parameter in an install2 action.
The weakness was disclosed 11/05/2008 (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at milw0rm.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2008-6657 since 04/07/2009. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Upgrading to version 1.1.2 eliminates this vulnerability.
