Buffer overflow in the BaseFont writer module in Ghostscript 8.62, and possibly other versions, allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (ps2pdf crash) and possibly execute arbitrary code via a crafted Postscript file.
The bug was discovered 12/22/2008. The weakness was disclosed 04/08/2009 with Red Hat (Website). The advisory is available at redhat.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2008-6679 since 04/08/2009. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to launch the attack remotely.
