Multiple cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerabilities in the web administration console in Apache Geronimo Application Server 2.1 through 2.1.3 allow remote attackers to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via the (1) name, (2) ip, (3) username, or (4) description parameter to console/portal/Server/Monitoring; or (5) the PATH_INFO to the default URI under console/portal/.

The weakness was published 04/17/2009 by DiGiT with Digital Security Research Group (Website). The advisory is shared for download at issues.apache.org. This vulnerability was named CVE-2009-0038 since 12/15/2008. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. Technical details and also a public exploit are known. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1059.007.

It is possible to download the exploit at securityfocus.com. It is declared as proof-of-concept.
