Cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in index.php in moziloCMS 1.11 allows remote attackers to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via the query parameter in search action, a different issue than CVE-2008-6127.2a.
The weakness was disclosed 04/22/2009 by rgod (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at milw0rm.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2009-1367 since 04/22/2009. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Technical details as well as a public exploit are known. The attack technique deployed by this issue is T1059.007 according to MITRE ATT&CK.
A public exploit has been developed by SirGod and been published even before and not after the advisory. The exploit is available at exploit-db.com. It is declared as highly functional. The vulnerability was handled as a non-public zero-day exploit for at least 12 days. During that time the estimated underground price was around $0-$5k. By approaching the search of inurl:index.php it is possible to find vulnerable targets with Google Hacking. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 12280 (MoziloCMS Local File Include and Cross-Site Scripting Vulnerabilities - Zero Day).
There is no information about possible countermeasures known. It may be suggested to replace the affected object with an alternative product.
