Multiple cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerabilities in ccLgView.exe in the Symantec Log Viewer, as used in Symantec AntiVirus (SAV) before 10.1 MR8, Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP) 11.0 before 11.0 MR1, Norton 360 1.0, and Norton Internet Security 2005 through 2008, allow remote attackers to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via a crafted e-mail message, related to "two parsing errors."

The bug was discovered 04/28/2009. The weakness was shared 04/28/2009 by Mark Litchfield with Next Generation Security Software (Website). The advisory is shared for download at securityfocus.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2009-1428 since 04/24/2009. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1059.007.

It is declared as proof-of-concept. The vulnerability was handled as a non-public zero-day exploit for at least 1 days. During that time the estimated underground price was around $5k-$25k.
