functions/mime.php in SquirrelMail before 1.4.18 does not protect the application s content from Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) positioning in HTML e-mail messages, which allows remote attackers to spoof the user interface, and conduct cross-site scripting (XSS) and phishing attacks, via a crafted message.
The bug was discovered 05/12/2009. The weakness was shared 05/14/2009 by Tomas Hoger as Bug 500356 as not defined bug report (Bugzilla). The advisory is shared for download at bugzilla.redhat.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2009-1581 since 05/06/2009. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1059.007.
