Details
A vulnerability was found in OpenCA up to 0.9.1.7. It has been declared as critical. This vulnerability affects the function libCheckSignature
in the library libCheckSignature of the component Certificate Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a improper authentication vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-287. When an actor claims to have a given identity, the product does not prove or insufficiently proves that the claim is correct. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, and integrity. CVE summarizes:
The libCheckSignature function in crypto-utils.lib for OpenCA 0.9.1.6 and earlier only compares the serial of the signer s certificate and the one in the database, which can cause OpenCA to incorrectly accept a signature if the certificate s chain is trusted by OpenCA s chain directory, allowing remote attackers to spoof requests from other users.
