Multiple SQL injection vulnerabilities in Kjtechforce mailman beta1, when magic_quotes_gpc is disabled, allow remote attackers to execute arbitrary SQL commands via (1) the code parameter to activate.php or (2) the dest parameter to index.php.
The weakness was presented 06/22/2009 as confirmed posting (Bugtraq). The advisory is shared at securityfocus.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2009-2164 since 06/22/2009. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Technical details as well as a public exploit are known. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1505 for this issue.
A public exploit has been developed by YEnH4ckEr and been published even before and not after the advisory. The exploit is available at exploit-db.com. It is declared as proof-of-concept. The vulnerability was handled as a non-public zero-day exploit for at least 17 days. During that time the estimated underground price was around $0-$5k. By approaching the search of inurl:activate.php it is possible to find vulnerable targets with Google Hacking.
There is no information about possible countermeasures known. It may be suggested to replace the affected object with an alternative product.
