A vulnerability was found in OCS Inventory NG up to 1.02.1 on Unix. It has been declared as problematic. Affected by this vulnerability is some unknown functionality of the file cvs.php. The manipulation of the argument log
with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. Absolute path traversal vulnerability in cvs.php in OCS Inventory NG before 1.02.1 on Unix allows remote attackers to read arbitrary files via a full pathname in the log parameter.
The weakness was published 06/22/2009 as confirmed posting (Bugtraq). It is possible to read the advisory at securityfocus.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2009-2166 since 06/22/2009.
