Adobe Flash Player up to 9.0.48.0 numeric error

CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

Integer overflow in the ActionScript Virtual Machine 2 (AVM2) abcFile parser in Adobe Flash Player before 9.0.246.0 and 10.x before 10.0.32.18, and Adobe AIR before 1.5.2, allows attackers to cause a denial of service (application crash) or possibly execute arbitrary code via an AVM2 file with a large intrf_count value that triggers a dereference of an out-of-bounds pointer.

The weakness was presented 07/30/2009 by iDefense with IBM Rational Application Security (Website). The advisory is shared for download at vupen.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2009-1869 since 06/01/2009. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available.

It is possible to download the exploit at exploit-db.com. It is declared as proof-of-concept. As 0-day the estimated underground price was around $25k-$100k. The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 40447 (Adobe AIR < 1.5.2 Multiple Vulnerabilities (APSB09-10)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family Windows. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 116529 (Adobe Acrobat and Reader Remote Code Execution Vulnerabilities (APSA09-03 and APSB09-10)).

Upgrading to version 9.0.114.0 eliminates this vulnerability. Furthermore it is possible to detect and prevent this kind of attack with TippingPoint and the filter 8560.

The vulnerability is also documented in the databases at X-Force (52181), Exploit-DB (33134), Tenable (40447), SecurityFocus (BID 35890†) and OSVDB (56777†). See VDB-4049, VDB-49229, VDB-49227 and VDB-49226 for similar entries.
