The weakness was shared 03/19/2012 by Suman Jana and Vitaly Shmatikov as confirmed mailinglist post (Bugtraq). The advisory is available at seclists.org. The vendor was not involved in the coordination of the public release. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2012-1443 since 02/29/2012. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available. This vulnerability is assigned to T1068 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.

A public exploit has been developed by Suman Jana / Vitaly Shmatikov and been published immediately after the advisory. It is declared as proof-of-concept. The exploit is available at seclists.org. As 0-day the estimated underground price was around $25k-$100k.

There is no information about possible countermeasures known. It may be suggested to replace the affected object with an alternative product.
