src/network/ssl/qsslcertificate.cpp in Nokia Trolltech Qt 4.x does not properly handle a \0 character in a domain name in the Subject Alternative Name field of an X.509 certificate, which allows man-in-the-middle attackers to spoof arbitrary SSL servers via a crafted certificate issued by a legitimate Certification Authority, a related issue to CVE-2009-2408.
The weakness was presented 09/02/2009 (Website). The advisory is shared for download at vupen.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2009-2700. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available.
The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 42793 (SuSE 11 Security Update : libqt4 (SAT Patch Number 1522)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family SuSE Local Security Checks. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 175067 (Debian Security Update for Qt4-x11 (DSA-1988)).
