Format string vulnerability in the AbstractCommand::onAbort function in src/AbstractCommand.cc in aria2 before 1.6.2, when logging is enabled, allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code or cause a denial of service (application crash) via format string specifiers in a download URI. NOTE: some of these details are obtained from third party information.

The weakness was shared 10/16/2009 as Bug 529342 as not defined bug report (Bugzilla). The advisory is available at bugzilla.redhat.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2009-3617 since 10/09/2009. The exploitability is told to be difficult. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit.
