A vulnerability was found in Moodle up to 1.9.6 (Learning Management Software). It has been classified as critical. Affected is some unknown processing. SQL injection vulnerability in the SCORM module in Moodle 1.8 before 1.8.11 and 1.9 before 1.9.7 allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary SQL commands via vectors related to an "escaping issue when processing AICC CRS file (Course_Title)."
The weakness was disclosed 12/15/2009 (Website). The advisory is available at vupen.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2009-4305 since 12/11/2009. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. Required for exploitation is a authentication. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available. This vulnerability is assigned to T1505 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.
It is declared as proof-of-concept. The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 44850 (Debian DSA-1986-1 : moodle - several vulnerabilities), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family Debian Local Security Checks. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 165156 (SUSE Update for Multiple Packages (SUSE-SR:2010:004)).
Upgrading to version 1.9.3 eliminates this vulnerability.
