Multiple cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerabilities in the administration interface in Horde Application Framework before 3.3.6, Horde Groupware before 1.2.5, and Horde Groupware Webmail Edition before 1.2.5 allow remote attackers to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via the PATH_INFO to (1) phpshell.php, (2) cmdshell.php, or (3) sqlshell.php in admin/, related to the PHP_SELF variable.

The weakness was presented 12/21/2009 by Juan Galiana Lara (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at vupen.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2009-3701 since 10/15/2009. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Technical details and also a public exploit are known. The attack technique deployed by this issue is T1059.007 according to MITRE ATT&CK.

A public exploit has been developed by Juan Galiana Lara and been published even before and not after the advisory. It is possible to download the exploit at securityfocus.com. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 165156 (SUSE Update for Multiple Packages (SUSE-SR:2010:004)).

Upgrading to version 3.0.8 eliminates this vulnerability.
