The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a code injection vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-94. The product constructs all or part of a code segment using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the syntax or behavior of the intended code segment. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
Adobe Reader and Acrobat 9.x before 9.3.2, and 8.x before 8.2.2 on Windows and Mac OS X, do not properly handle fonts, which allows attackers to execute arbitrary code via unspecified vectors.
The weakness was presented 04/14/2010 by Billy Rios (TippingPoint) with Oulu University Secure Programming Group (Website). The advisory is available at us-cert.gov. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2010-0195 since 01/05/2010. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available. This vulnerability is assigned to T1059 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.
It is declared as proof-of-concept.
