Buffer overflow in the rendering for (1) Windows Metafile (WMF) or (2) Enhanced Metafile (EMF) image formats in Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 SP6a, 2000 SP2 through SP4, and XP SP1 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via a malformed WMF or EMF image.

The bug was discovered 02/23/2004. The weakness was published 02/20/2004 by Jellytop as MS04-011 as confirmed posting (Bugtraq). The advisory is available at securityfocus.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2003-0906 since 11/04/2003. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation.
