Multiple buffer overflows in Deliantra Server before 2.82 allow remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via vectors related to (1) the command_gsay function in server/c_party.C and (2) the book implementation.
The weakness was disclosed 10/24/2009 (Website). The advisory is shared for download at cvs.schmorp.de. This vulnerability was named CVE-2009-4846 since 05/07/2010. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available.
It is declared as proof-of-concept.
Upgrading to version 2.02 eliminates this vulnerability. A possible mitigation has been published immediately after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
