Buffer overflow in an ActiveX control in SSHelper.dll for Symantec Sygate Personal Firewall 5.6 build 2808 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via a long third argument to the SetRegString method.
The weakness was shared 06/11/2010 (Website). The advisory is available at osvdb.org. This vulnerability was named CVE-2010-2305 since 06/16/2010. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Technical details and also a public exploit are known.
