Details
A vulnerability was found in IBM Advanced Management Module up to 2.47 and classified as problematic. This issue affects some unknown functionality of the file private/blade_leds.php of the component Firmware. The manipulation of the argument DIR
with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. Impacted is confidentiality. The summary by CVE is:
Directory traversal vulnerability in private/file_management.php on the IBM BladeCenter with Advanced Management Module (AMM) firmware build ID BPET48L, and possibly other versions before 4.7 and 5.0, allows remote authenticated users to list arbitrary directories and possibly have unspecified other impact via a .. (dot dot) in the DIR parameter.
The weakness was released 07/08/2010 by Alex (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at exploit-db.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2010-2655 since 07/07/2010. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. A simple authentication is required for exploitation. Technical details as well as a public exploit are known. The attack technique deployed by this issue is T1006 according to MITRE ATT&CK.
A public exploit has been developed by Alexey Sintsov and been published before and not just after the advisory. The exploit is available at exploit-db.com. It is declared as proof-of-concept. The vulnerability was handled as a non-public zero-day exploit for at least 2 days. During that time the estimated underground price was around $5k-$25k.
