The weakness was released 07/30/2010 by Natalie Silvanovich (team509) with University of Szeged (Website). The advisory is shared at This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2010-1785. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available. The price for an exploit might be around USD $5k-$25k at the moment (estimation calculated on 09/21/2021).

The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 49246 (Fedora 13 : webkitgtk-1.2.4-1.fc13 (2010-14409)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family Fedora Local Security Checks. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 155514 (Oracle Enterprise Linux Update for WebKitGTK(ELSA-2011-0177)).
