Google V8, as used in Google Chrome before 19.0.1084.52, does not properly perform garbage collection, which allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (application crash) or possibly have unspecified other impact via crafted JavaScript code.

The weakness was presented 05/23/2012 by Brett Wilson (efbiaiinzinz) with Chromium Development Community as 117409 as confirmed knowledge base article (Website). The advisory is shared for download at code.google.com. The public release was coordinated in cooperation with the vendor. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2011-3103 since 08/09/2011. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. Technical details are unknown but a private exploit is available.

It is declared as proof-of-concept. The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 59628 (GLSA-201205-04 : Chromium, V8: Multiple vulnerabilities), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 120235 (Google Chrome prior to 19.0.1084.52 Multiple Vulnerabilities).

Upgrading to version 19.0.1084.52 eliminates this vulnerability. The upgrade is hosted for download at chrome.google.com. A possible mitigation has been published immediately after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
