Adobe Flash Player before 9.0.289.0 and 10.x before 10.1.102.64 on Windows, Mac OS X, Linux, and Solaris, and 10.1.95.1 on Android, does not properly handle unspecified encodings during the parsing of a cross-domain policy file, which allows remote web servers to bypass intended access restrictions via unknown vectors.

The weakness was released 11/07/2010 with Symantec Consulting Services Japan (Website). The advisory is available at adobe.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2010-3636 since 09/28/2010. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available. This vulnerability is assigned to T1068 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.

It is declared as proof-of-concept. The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 75493 (openSUSE Security Update : flash-player (flash-player-3474)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family SuSE Local Security Checks. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 118667 (Adobe Flash Player Unspecified Code Execution Vulnerability (APSB10-26)).

Upgrading to version 9.0.114.0 eliminates this vulnerability.
