Stack-based buffer overflow in a certain ActiveX control for the Camtron CMNC-200 Full HD IP Camera and TecVoz CMNC-200 Megapixel IP Camera with firmware 1.102A-008 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via a long string in the first argument to the connect method.

The weakness was disclosed 11/12/2010 by Trustwave's SpiderLabs with Trustwave's SpiderLabs (Website). The advisory is available at trustwave.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2010-4230 since 11/11/2010. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. Technical details and a public exploit are known. The structure of the vulnerability defines a possible price range of USD $0-$5k at the moment (estimation calculated on 08/31/2024).

A public exploit has been developed by Trustwave's SpiderLabs and been published immediately after the advisory. The exploit is shared for download at securityfocus.com. It is declared as proof-of-concept.
