CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

A vulnerability was found in awstats (Log Management Software) and classified as critical. Affected by this issue is an unknown code of the file awstats.cgi of the component Configuration File. The manipulation of the argument configdir with an unknown input leads to a code injection vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-94. The product constructs all or part of a code segment using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the syntax or behavior of the intended code segment. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:

awstats.cgi in AWStats before 7.0 accepts a configdir parameter in the URL, which allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary commands via a crafted configuration file located on a (1) WebDAV server or (2) NFS server.

The weakness was presented 12/02/2010 (Website). The advisory is available at mandriva.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2010-4367. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit. This vulnerability is assigned to T1059 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.

The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 51930 (FreeBSD : awstats -- arbitrary commands execution vulnerability (ce6ce2f8-34ac-11e0-8103-00215c6a37bb)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family FreeBSD Local Security Checks.

Upgrading to version 6.9 eliminates this vulnerability.

The vulnerability is also documented in the vulnerability database at Tenable (51930). See 55599 for similar entry.
