error.php in PhpMyAdmin 3.3.8.1, and other versions before 3.4.0-beta1, allows remote attackers to conduct cross-site scripting (XSS) attacks via a crafted BBcode tag containing "@" characters, as demonstrated using "[a@url@page]".

The weakness was shared 12/06/2010 by emgent white_sheep and scox (Website). The advisory is shared at vupen.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2010-4480 since 12/07/2010. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Technical details and also a public exploit are known. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1059.007 for this issue.
